Merve Senem Arkan has graduated from the Archaeology and Art History Major at Eastern Mediterranean University in Cyprus. In 2007, she completed an MA in Art and Design History at Kingston University, UK. She holds a Master’s degree in Eastern Mediterranean Studies from Eastern Mediterranean University. Her MA thesis was “The Cartography of post- Medieval Famagusta: from the 16th to the 19th centuries,” which was awarded in 2011. She started her Ph.D. in the History of Cartography Department at Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, where she works under the supervision of Dr. Zsolt Török. Her thesis, “The Urban Cartography of Cyprus: Between the 16th and 20th Centuries” was awarded in December 2016. Between 2015 and 2017, she served as the honorary secretary of the International Society for the History of the Map (ISHMap). In 2021, she worked at Eastern Mediterranean University. Since 2021, she has served as the Head of the Archaeology Department at ARUCAD.
