Bio
Çağdaş Öğüç was born in Kyrenia. He completed his undergraduate studies in Graphic Communication at the University of Nicosia and received his master’s degree in Radio, Television and Cinema in 2014. In October 2018, he earned his PhD in Media and Communication Studies, where his doctoral research focused on digital surveillance and its social implications.
Prior to his academic career, Öğüç worked for various media organizations in Northern Cyprus, primarily in the fields of digital journalism, online publishing, and editorial production. He held positions involving content management, digital news production, and the development of online media strategies, gaining extensive experience in the transformation of journalism within the digital environment. In 2013, he was awarded the Kutlu Adalı Press Award in the New Media category.
His academic work focuses on digital media studies, digital journalism, surveillance and society, media ethics, and the social, cultural, and political dimensions of digital communication. His research particularly examines issues such as algorithmic influence, platform dynamics, audience participation, and the changing boundaries of journalistic responsibility in networked media environments.
