Dr. Sarvenaz Pakravan is a Canadian interior design scholar whose work focuses on residential urban agriculture, social sustainability, and design education.

Born in Tehran and educated in North Cyprus, she has developed a multidisciplinary profile that connects theory, practice, and pedagogy across interior design and architecture. Dr. Pakravan holds a bachelor’s degree in interior design and a master’s degree in architecture from Eastern Mediterranean University. Her master’s research examined the basic elements of landscaping in interior spaces, with a particular focus on shopping malls. Building on this foundation, her PhD investigated residential urban agriculture and the integration of this concept into undergraduate interior design studios, exploring how design education can foster more socially and environmentally responsive living environments.

Dr. Pakravan has held academic and research roles at several institutions. She worked as a research assistant at Eastern Mediterranean University before taking up a full-time lectureship at Girne American University, where she taught from 2019 to 2025. In 2025, she joined Arkin University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD), where she contributes to teaching and research in interior design and related fields.

Alongside her academic background, Dr. Pakravan has industry experience in furniture and visual merchandising in Vancouver, Canada, and has further strengthened her professional knowledge through courses at Vancouver Community College. She has published in SSCI-indexed journals as well as in other internationally indexed publications and conferences. Her current work continues to explore residential urban agriculture, social sustainability, interior architecture, and design studio pedagogy, with a particular interest in how interior environments can support more resilient and community-oriented ways of living.
